Your home deserves to shine in front of the camera – for both the photographer and future viewers. Wondering where to start? Follow this handy checklist to make sure your home looks its absolute best!
Checklist: how to get your home photo shoot ready!

Ready, Set, Shoot!

Outside: First Impressions Count

The exterior shot often becomes the main photo on Funda and our website. So, let’s make it count!

  • Remove bikes, bins, and anything else that clutters the view.
  • Give the pavement, balcony, garden, or terrace a quick sweep or tidy.
  • If possible, keep cars out of sight – or park your own in front and move it right before the shoot.
Inside: Calm, Space and Light

A tidy, clean home feels bigger and helps potential buyers imagine living there.

General tips

  • Fix or polish up any small imperfections before the shoot – fewer distractions in photos means a stronger impression.
  • Put away personal items (photo frames, toys, post, keys, ashtrays, pet gear) and any seasonal decor.
  • Clear coat racks, tables, desks, windowsills, cupboard tops, and kitchen worktops.
  • The more visible floor space, the better: straighten rugs, move furniture if needed, and keep paths to doors and windows open.
  • Mop the floors, dust away cobwebs, polish mirrors, windows, and surfaces – but make sure everything’s dry before the photographer arrives.
  • Tuck away loose cables and extension leads.
  • Let the light in – open curtains wide!

Bathroom

  • Remove all toiletries and loose items – toothbrushes, shower gels, laundry baskets, toilet brushes, toilet rolls, towels, bathrobes, bathmats, etc.

Kitchen

  • Keep it fresh and clutter-free: clear away appliances, utensils, and tea towels. Hide the bin too!

Bedroom

  • Make beds neatly with calm, neutral bedding.
Garden: Looking Its Best
  • Keep it clear and tidy – less is more.
  • Mow the lawn and remove weeds.
  • Not at its greenest? Add a few potted plants or fresh flowers for a pop of life.

Finishing touches
  • Are all taps straight?
  • Dead leaves removed from plants?
  • Cushions fluffed?
  • No personal or sensitive photos visible?
  • Toilet lids down?
  • Garage and storage spaces neat?
  • Fresh flowers on the table?
  • A bowl of fruit or a herb plant in the kitchen?
